Connecting your home to the energy networks

To install a meter, for electricity and/or gas, you should contact the energy supplier you have chosen to activate your contract. You can therefore jump directly to the article regarding the activation of a energy supply contract.

Otherwise, if you just want to connect your home to the network ("allacciamento" in Italian) but not activate a contract, then you should contact your local distribution network operator (DNO).

Once the meter installed, you will get the serial number of your meter (called POD for electricity, PDR for gas), that identifies your connection to the grid and is essential in all practises.

Getting your home connected to the energy networks

This operation, either you ask it to your supplier or directly to the local DNO in charge of the works, usually takes between 15 and 60 days according to the complexity of the works.

Simple works should be done in no more than 15 working days.

Complex works may take as much as 60 working days, in the case the installation requires heavy construction works such as opening a new underground cable.
